A goal for life
A goal for life

There was once an ardent disciple of Lord Buddha who had a burning
desire to publish a book of his Guru’s teachings. He spent a lot of time
and effort collecting funds to publish the book. This he did
by going door-to-door to his neighbors, friends and acquaintances
requesting monetary help. The day came when his efforts bore fruit and
he had raised enough money for the book. However, no sooner had he heard
about the cyclone that had hit a poor village nearby, than he sent the
entire fund collection to the victims. He then started the fund-raising
process all over again. Friends and good Samaritans helped him this time
too. He was all set to realize his goal when a deadly earthquake struck
another part of the country. Without any hesitation he sent all the
money to help the victims. For the third time, he mobilized funds and
successfully published the book. Albeit he was close to achieving his
goal the first two times, he didn’t lose hope when he couldn’t.
Like him we should also have a desire to succeed in the task/goal we
have set for ourselves. Then we have to act in the proper manner to be
able to accomplish the task within a prescribed time. Unless we have a
working plan, our priceless energy and time will go to trash. Remember
that the goal has to be clear in our mind so that it induces the spirit
to translate the passion into action. The clearer the goal, the easier
it is for the mind to devote its energy towards fulfilling it. Keen
desire and ardent aspiration are the magnetic forces that take us to a
sphere that is favorable to the realization of our goal.
